The Troubled Saturday

My first blog entry, woo! Well, being it so close to Thanksgiving. I wanted to start off by saying that, I am so thankful for my mom and dad because without them I wouldn't be going to such an amazing college. Being at an art school has changed my life. I have been able to bring out more creativity and hope. I never thought I could draw, nor paint as good as I do. It has made me realize that I can do anything I set my mind to.

Next thing is, I have been working on two projects at the same time-- both due Monday. The one for my Observational drawing class, is coming really well. I drew it out nicely and just need to shade it. I also made another copy, so I could color or paint it. The second project is for my Perspective Drawing class, and it is very hard for me. We're at 4-point right now. My group picked seasons, so I draw out four trees for the four different seasons. That was the easy part. Now, I have to come up with things to draw for each season. BUT, my teacher did not explain this one so well, so I don't know how to put the things in perspective. I've been thinking I will just go ahead and start to paint it. The backgrounds will be different for the four different seasons. Another thing is, this is our first time using watercolors. I hope it comes out well-- came out pretty well.

This is my finished 4 point perspective work. I don't really like it that much. My teacher said it was pretty good, but I could have lowered the horizon line (the sky line) down more, so that the trees would have curved more. I made an 81.

That's my one for Observational class. I really like it. All the shapes have a meaning behind them. The green thing is confusion. The fourth purple circle is beauty. The black lightening strike is anger. The blue curvy line is calmness. The box is a gift. The pink circle is love. The dark blue thing at the bottom is expression or creativity. The other blue thing is sadness. The brown thing is a chess piece for my Grandpa. The wing thing is a hand. The triangle is home. And the four things on the bottom right is my family.

Wish me luck! I'm off to my Drafting class. Yes, school on Saturday. >.> Hope you enjoy your Saturday!

Thanks for reading,
Mel

  1. So exciting! We get to follow your early career. Can't wait to see and hear about your projects. I don't even know what four-point perspective is!

  2. Glad to hear that! Four-point perspective is really hard to explain.

  3. I really like to colors on the 4point perspective one. Very nice combination. It's cool how you made the shapes on the other one have meaning. Me like.

  4. Yeah, I like the colors too. The main reason why I made them have meaning is because that's how my teacher wanted it, but I really like how it turned out :) Even though the colored pencils sucked.
